Beyond Screen
The “Projeto Afro – Beyond the Screen” app marks yet another important step in the recent trajectory of Projeto Afro, an Afro-Brazilian platform dedicated to mapping and promoting Black artists, which has been developing initiatives in digital spaces and beyond.
Over a 12-month period, the app underwent a development process, including a curatorial selection of an initial group of artworks which will be accessible upon downloading the app.
With just over a year since the platform’s launch, Projeto Afro has been building collaborations and partnerships that are essential to its existence.
Public programs have been carried out alongside support for exhibitions, the publication of critical and informative content, and interviews with various artists and curators.
In line with its broader mission to amplify art by Black creators in Brazil, the app serves as an extension of the platform.
The development of the app was made possible thanks to a grant from ProAC No. 15/2020 and the support of Tatu Cult.
